God is a Dreamer

Have you ever thought about the fact that God dreamed you up? At some point before you existed, His mind thought through all the details of who you are. Then, He was so delighted in the thought of you that He chose to create you. I understand a lot of the basics of human development.  I firmly believe that the development of human embryos to birth is always under God’s guidance. Psalm 139:13-16 says:

“You formed my innermost being, shaping my delicate inside and my intricate outside, and wove them all together in my mother’s womb. I thank you, God, for making me so mysteriously complex! Everything you do is marvelously breathtaking. It simply amazes me to think about it! How thoroughly you know me, Lord! You even formed every bone in my body when you created me in the secret place, carefully, skillfully shaping me from nothing to something. You saw who you created me to be before I became me!”

I don’t think we are forced to say “Science has been able to discover and describe most of the process of human development, therefore there’s no reason to believe in God.” For me it’s the complete opposite. Studying science allows me to study more and more of God’s ingenuity and brilliance. All of creation points to a Creator, from the tiniest cell to the farthest galaxy.

My second week in CGA we talked about what it means to be made in the image of God. Of course there’s lots of theological answers to that question. The conversation could go on for a long time since there are endless facets to God that we are created to reflect. Today I wanted to remind you that God dreamed you up. He delights in you! God is a dreamer, and as an image-bearer of Him, He has created YOU to be a dreamer too! I believe He wants you to dream with Him. What dreams are inside of your heart that you haven’t pursued? No really, what is that dream? Have you brought it the Lord and let Him speak to you about it? I believe that God has put dreams in your heart for you to explore. I think part of the point of exploring these dreams is to explore who God is as Creator, and who He is as a dreamer and a dream-giver. He’s wild, guys! He’s uncontainable, in the best way possible. I would find it really hard to believe if there’s not something in your heart that He has stirred up over the years. What would it be like to pursue that dream? What would it take?

Until next time!
